Germany Embossed Eagle and Shield Identification
The "small-shield" version is on the left, with the "large-shield" version on the right. To identify them, check these three characteristics:
Shield size: Obviously, the small shield is smaller.
Wing shape and expanse: The wings on the large-shield variety reach further out. While the wings don't actually extend above the head, it can sometimes look like that because the ribbon around the head on the large-shield variety can look like part of the wings.
Feather orientation: All the feathers on the small-shield variety point down. The feathers at the top of the wings on the large-shield variety extend upward.
